A quality gas fire will last years but over time our tastes change, and we want to update the fireplace with something more modern and in keeping with our current décor. The beauty of gas fires is that with the help of a Gas Safe engineer, they can be easily replaced for a newer model. There are, however, a few considerations you need to think about first.

  1. If you are changing the style of your fire, ensure your flue is compatible. Different fires require different types of flue or chimney, so do your homework to avoid any installation issues. Valor have a handy visual guide on their website to help you know what type of chimney/flue you have. [https://www.valor.co.uk/faqs]
  2. If you’re replacing a fire that was installed over a decade ago, regulations may have changed, so ensure your fire installation complies with new regulations. Your Gas Safe engineer will be able to advise on this.
  3. Finally, it’s always best to get independent advice from an expert. Valor has independent retailers all over the country to offer advice on the different types of fires available and installation considerations. By getting this advice first, you can rest assure your new fire installation will go without a hitch.
