What type of chimney or flue do I have?

Look at the images below to see which one best matches the chimney at your home. To see if your desired fire is suitable for your chimney type, please see the product page on this site. If you do not have a chimney, you can have a balanced flue fire installed on an outside wall.

What is a balanced flue fire?

Put simply, having a balanced flue means that there is no need for a chimney. The fire will have its own specifically designed flue pipe, allowing for installation where a property does not have a chimney flue system.

If you do not already have a chimney or balanced flue, you can get a balanced flue installed on an outside wall. Your retailer will be able to guide you as to pricing for this.  

What is a Valor Centre retailer?

These retailers have been featured to provide you the highest levels of service, knowledge and experience to help guide you to your perfect Valor fire.

How often should my gas fire be serviced?

If you live in a private property, we recommend that you have your gas fire serviced annually to guarantee the safety and efficiency of your fire. If you are living in a rented property or are covered by our extended warranty*, is a requirement that you have your gas fire serviced annually at the minimum. If you are having trouble with your gas fire, please see our spares and repairs page, or speak to your installer.


*Extended warranty is only available on selected products when purchased from a Valor Centre retailer.  

Can I install a gas fire myself?

No. Gas appliances should only be installed by a competent, gas safe registered engineer with the relevant qualifications.

What safety features are on my gas fire?

The safety features vary on all Valor products, but all open flue fires have oxy-pilot/atmosphere sensing device (ASD)/Thermocouple. This means that the product will sense the atmosphere in the room and auto-cut out should a dangerous environment be detected.

Does my gas fire require an electrical connection?

Some Valor gas fires require a power supply for either ignition options/control or effects. Please see the instruction manual for your specific product which can be found on the product page of this site. 

How do I maintain my gas fire?

Maintenance of your fire will be done in your annual service of the gas fire. To clean your fire, wait for it to completely cool down before lightly dusting. 

What gas fire is the most efficient?

This will vary depending on the location of the fire in the home, however we have highlighted the efficiency of each fire on the product pages on this site.

What is the Valor Centre 3 Year Warranty?

When you purchase a Valor fire, you do so with the utmost confidence that it will serve you for many years to come. Such is the confidence in our products and our exclusive network of Valor Centre retailers that we offer an extended three year warranty when purchased from a Valor Centre, provided that the fire is serviced annually, in accordance with Valor guidelines. This gives you an additional two years warranty on top of the standard one year that is available for all Valor products.

How should I clean my electric fire?

Before commencing cleaning, unplug the heater and allow it to completely cool.


The surfaces of the heater should be given an occasional wipe over with a dry soft cloth. Do not use detergents, abrasive cleaning powder or polish on the metal body of the heater. The glass screen should be cleaned carefully with a chamois leather. DO NOT use proprietary cleaners.


To remove any accumulation of dust or fluff, the soft brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner should occasionally be used to clean the outlet grille of the fan heater located under the canopy.


To clean the fuel effect, remove the coal/pebbles and wash in warm water. The plastic tray should be wiped clean with a damp cloth. When dry, replace the coal/pebbles and arrange for best effect.

Can I use an extension lead with my fire?

No. We do not recommend the use of an extension lead with any of our products.
