Ask The Expert: Installing Gas Fires
Q: I want a gas fire. How do I go about installing it?
Answered by: Jonathan Smith, head of flame technologies for Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation
A: A gas fire can offer homeowners a stylish focal point for their home, providing the warmth and ambience of a real fire, without the high maintenance.
If you’re planning to install a gas fire, you need to ensure that you get it right – by finding a certified gas installer. You should never look to do it yourself. With some electric fires you can literally plug in and go, however gas appliances are faced with strict safety rules due to the higher temperatures and emissions involved. You could be putting yourself and your family in serious danger from carbon monoxide poisoning and gas explosions if you attempt to install it yourself. A gas fire would require an experienced, specialist installer to fit your new fire for you. It’s also recommended that your gas fire should be serviced annually by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
The Valor Inspire collection features enhanced control around heat output – which means you can enjoy all the warmth and atmosphere of your gas fire, even when full heat is not suitable. Plus, with a three-year guarantee and stringent safety testing, you can put your trust in a Valor fire.
